Plant Engineer – Mercer, NJ

Monitor and evaluate coal plant mechanical performance. Conduct engineering analysis and develop recommendations to maintain and improve generating plant efficiency, reliability, safety, environmental compliance and cost performance - initiate corrective action as needed. Manage the development and implementation of mechanical projects in the plant as needed to improve equipment performance and reliability. Evaluate plant equipment performance, operating practices and procedures and modify as appropriate. Perform root cause and cost/benefit analysis on equipment deficiencies. Identify resources and act as a sponsor between Generation Projects and station associates in the design and application of new technology. Develop equipment/services bid specifications, evaluate purchase recommendations. Provide technical support and direction to contractors and in-house labor supervisors. Perform engineering studies in all areas of equipment improvement, specifying materials, equipment, calibration and test requirements. Maintain and apply working knowledge of PSEG standards for Business Controls and meet management’s expectations for effective internal business controls.

Requirements:

-BS in Engineering. If no engineering degree but have equivalent experience this position title will be Fossil Technical Specialist.
-Five years experience in utility or manufacturing plant environment.
-Understanding of permit limitations and regulatory requirements.
-Experience in plant design, control and operation.
-Power Plant Experience.

Desirable:

-PE license
-Coal fired power plant experience

I&E Tech Aide - Bridgeport – Maintenance

Maintain an effective maintenance program for the Station’s electronic Instrument and Controls and Electrical Distribution System and equipment. Provides on-the-job leadership and accountability to the Instrument and Electrical Support Team. Develops associates’ skills and expertise that is necessary to maintain a high productivity level and allow continuous improvement to the maintenance program. Assist the I&E Generation Supervisors in providing direction to the Instrument and Electrical Support Team. Assist in the establishment of a predictive maintenance program, and thereafter, update and implement said program for maximum effectiveness. Follow environmental, OSHA, regulatory standards, and operating and safety procedures when performing the necessary maintenance. Assist in the development and critique of various training programs to cross train and upgrade the teams’ skill level. Act as system sponsor for plant systems that require technical skills and expertise. Maintain and apply working knowledge of PSEG Standards for Business Controls and meet management's expectations for effective internal business controls. Be available for emergency call-in. Be willing to work long hours and odd schedules, when required.

Essential: This position requires an AS degree in Electrical Engineering or similar discipline, or formal training at a technical school. Demonstrated track record in solving high-order instrument electrical and control problems through logical troubleshooting, research and experience. Experience with digital distributed control systems, PLCs and electronics in power plants or industrial plants. Successful candidates must be able to interact effectively with individuals at all levels and be results oriented. Must be able to work on multiple projects/priorities and demonstrate an ability and willingness to learn.

Relay Technician – Nuclear
Location: Salem, NJ

Performs the duties required in connection with the installation, operation and maintenance of all type of protective and auxiliary relays and associated equipment in switching stations, substations, generating stations, customer’s installations and field locations as the employee becomes qualified through acquired experience and training. Performs switching through 26kV in accordance with their assigned work. Pull and terminate control cable required for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and removal of all relays and associated relay equipment.

Required: Ability to follow instructions and perform routine operations. Ability to read blueprints (schematics and wiring diagrams) and make simple field sketches and drawing mark-ups. Must have the ability to acquire sufficient knowledge of electronic circuits to perform work, as applied in relay protection and supervisory control. Must have the ability to complete Company courses in fundamentals of Electricity-Direct Current and Alternating Current, or the equivalent. Must have obtained an acceptable score on the Relay Technician pre-placement test. Fully qualified journeyman must provide proof of training records does not have to take the Relay Technician pre-placement test. High school graduate or equivalent. Valid NJ Driver's License.

Machinist Intermediate
Sewaren, NJ

Perform work of intermediate skill in the inspection, repair, testing, adjustment, installation and removal of all mechanical equipment. Set up and operate all machine tools in the performance of machine work of intermediate skill such as turning, drilling, milling, cutting threads, facing off collars, shaping, and general machine shop work not requiring tolerances less than + .002”. Assemble, disassemble, repair, align, and adjust all types of equipment which requires mechanical work and operates at a nominal voltage of 480 volts or less, a nominal pressure of 500 psig. or less, a nominal temperature of 600 °F or less, or where adjustments required are not less than + .002”. Balance components of equipment in the shop. Assemble and repair tubing, piping, valves and fittings, not subjected to high temperatures or high pressure. Perform metal spray work where gun is in fixed position. Must have two years prior machine shop experience or the equivalent. There are two openings for this night shift position. Successful applicants must be able to qualify for Nuclear Site Access.
